Why Is This Banner hanging In Whistler, British Columbia, Canada ?

Look at this large banner. It is the first time in my life that such a banner appeared. Inside and in every grocery store when checking a product for cost, where applicable, there is a sign signifying the product is made in Canada.

While watching the Canadian feed of the Stanley Cup there have been multiple commercials by different provinces promoting the wonderful tourist sites in their province. There was even one add for multiple destinations all over Canada. I pointed this out to my wife when I realized that all this promotion was directed at Canadians to stay home this summer and vacation in Canada, as opposed to going to the United States.

If there are tomatoes grown in the US and tomatoes grown in Canada, the message is quite clear. Regardless of cost, buy Canadian.

Thank you, President Trump, for pissing off a country that has fought side by side with American soldiers in 2 world wars and in Afghanistan, and that shares the longest peaceful border with you. A country that together with Mexico allowed you to tear up NAFTA and replace it with USMCA.

In a speech in 2020 Trump said, “The USMCA is the fairest, most balanced, and beneficial trade agreement we have ever signed into law. It’s the best agreement we’ve ever made, and we have others coming.”

Now he has imposed crushing tariffs on imports from Canada and wants to turn Canada into the 51st state. Wait a few months and see how much more expensive your new car will cost, or spare parts for your old car.

SHAME SHAME SHAME.

I am a proud Canadian and a proud American so I have no problem rooting for my American hockey team over my former Canadian team, but I could never have imagined that there would ever be such enmity between the 2 countries that I love, and all because of Trump.

There is an expression, “your broke it you bought it”. Though I did not vote for Trump, the majority of my country did vote for him, so we broke it and now we bought it. How much more of our world will he break, and will we be left with enough to pay the bill?
